July 8, 2022, WASHINGTON – On Friday, President Biden signed an executive order directing the Department of Health and Human Services to expand access to the abortion pill in an effort to keep states from exercising their newly granted right to limit or even ban access to the pill. The executive order also increases enforcement of the federal birth control mandate under Obamacare, and provides pro bono lawyers to defend anyone charged with providing abortion. The president issued the order in response to the Supreme Court’s decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that overturned Roe v. Wade earlier this month.
“In obvious defiance of the Supreme Court’s decision and to surrender to abortion extremists, President Biden is futilely attempting to maintain his grip on an issue that is no longer a federal one,” said Human Coalition Action National Legislative Advisor Chelsey Youman. “After Dobbs, states are now empowered to legislate on abortion, and many have determined that chemical abortions are harmful to women and end a child’s life. As the name denotes, abortion always ends precious preborn life. The president’s time would be much better spent focused on things his administration has control over – like the economy or care for pregnant women in need – rather than spinning his wheels to curry favor with abortion lobbyists.”
