November 27, 2023, AUSTIN, Texas — Human Coalition Action on Monday applauded the news that state pro-life laws resulted in an estimated 32,000 additional births in the year following the repeal of Roe.
Chelsey Youman, National Legislative Advisor with Human Coalition Action, issued the following statement:
“Every life matters. We supported these transformative laws such as the Texas Heartbeat Act because we knew they would save children and shield women from the horrors of abortion. We rejoice at every single life protected by these laws.
“Yet we cannot rest, because recent estimates indicate that abortions are back on the rise. Our pregnancy centers see women who are considering abortion for the same reasons as before – challenging social and economic problems. When we walk with them through their problems and fill their gaps in assistance, they realize they have a true alternative to abortion. That life changing work, combined with savvy advocacy for pro-life policies, is what the movement must be doing at scale.”
