July 1, 2024, WASHINGTON, DC — Human Coalition Action on Monday joined other advocacy groups in calling on 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC) delegates to uphold the party’s historic support for pro-life principles and policies.
In a letter led by the group Advancing American Freedom and signed by Human Coalition Action and other pro-life and advocacy groups, the coalition urged RNC delegates to ensure that the party’s platform continues to be “bold and unambiguous on life.”
Chelsey Youman, National Legislative Advisor with Human Coalition Action, issued the following statement on the letter:
“There is so much work to be done right now to protect innocent lives across America and serve vulnerable women at risk of abortion. More than 2,800 innocent babies are violently killed every single day in the gravest human rights atrocity in history. Pro-life Americans are ready to work like never before to win the elections that will result in pro-life policies. They will follow leaders who act boldly and will not compromise with the evil of abortion, and we urge the party to continue its strong track record of supporting the pro-life cause.”
The letter’s signers note “rumors of secret, closed-door meetings and some in the party wishing to weaken our pro-life positions,” and add that “we felt the need to directly address this issue,”
“Pro-life conservatives must remain ever vigilant in defense of life. As RNC delegates, you are the stewards of the Republican agenda and will ultimately vote whether to accept the 2024 platform,” the letter states.
“We encourage you to support pro-life planks and vote down any platform that weakens the party’s commitment to the cause of life.”
The final party platform will be ratified at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, held from July 15-18.
