May 16, 2024, WASHINGTON, DC — Chelsey Youman, National Legislative Advisor with Human Coalition Action, issued the following statement on Thursday after the House passed the Maternal and Child Health Stillbirth Prevention Act (H.R. 4581), introduced by Reps. Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa) and Alma Adams (D-N.C.):
“We applaud the House passing this strong legislation that provides for an increase of resources to prevent stillbirths, and we call on the Senate to quickly pass it. We are grateful to Reps. Hinson and Adams for their leadership on this critical issue.
“The future of a pro-life America requires both protections for children in the womb and support for vulnerable mothers. Policy remedies such as this provide us the tools to reverse this troubling trend of stillbirths in the United States that is sadly far too high.”
