Why We Are Pro-Life

What is abortion?

At its core, abortion is an act of horrific, unfathomable violence done to an innocent and defenseless human being for money.

Following are the most common induced abortion methods in the United States.

[N.B.: There are other abortion methods not mentioned here, as well as forms of contraception and emergency contraception that can cause early abortions. Here we only examine popular methods of induced abortion.]

The Abortion Pill

The abortion pill, also called chemical, medical, or medication abortion, induces the baby’s death and expulsion with drugs.

Chemical abortions are usually committed well into the first trimester, usually until about 10 weeks.

Chemical abortions are usually committed by administering two drugs.

Mifepristone blocks the important pregnancy hormone progesterone, causing the child to die from a lack of nourishment and oxygen.

Misprostol causes uterine contractions that make a woman’s body expel her child, and that this can result in incomplete abortions.

Suction Aspiration Abortion

Suction aspiration is the most common surgical abortion method in the first trimester.

The aspiration procedure is truly horrifying as it obliterates the bodies of small preborn children.

Live Action describes an aspiration abortion in this way:

A suction, or aspiration, D&C abortion is a procedure in which a suction catheter is inserted into the mother’s uterus to extract the preborn baby. Tools are then used to scrape the lining of the uterus to remove any remaining parts. This procedure is performed during the first trimester, typically during five and thirteen weeks LMP (that is five to thirteen weeks after the first day of the woman’s last menstrual period).

This abortion is usually done with an electric suction machine that makes the same sound as the suction machine at a dentist’s office.

The vacuum power of this machine is estimated to be 10-20 times as strong as a household vacuum cleaner.

The damage this abortion method inflicts is so great that clinic workers have to take the remains of the pregnancy to a room (often called the POC (“pock”), or “products of conception” lab), dump them into a dish, rinse them with water, and re-assemble the baby’s body to be sure that no arms, legs, or other body parts were left inside the woman’s body.

If parts are left inside a woman’s body, she can succumb to a deadly septic infection.

Late-Term Abortion

In the United States, abortion is legal until a woman goes into labor and delivers her child at full term.

Even at this stage, abortion is purely elective.

Abortionist Martin Haskell, who committed hundreds, maybe thousands of later-term abortion procedures in his career, said the following about his customers in an interview:

“I’ll be quite frank: most of my abortions are elective in that 20-24 week range… In my particular case, probably 20 percent {of the abortions} are for genetic reasons. And the other 80 percent are purely elective.”

Dismemberment Abortion

Dilation and Evacuation (“D&E”) abortion is a dismemberment procedure.

It is exactly what it sounds like.

This is an abortion method committed primarily in the 2nd trimester.

Dismemberment abortions are done at a point in gestation when preborn children have all of their organs and anatomy in place and their bones are calcifying.

This means they are harder to crush than children earlier in development.

A dismemberment abortion is committed by dilating the woman’s cervix, then reaching in with sharp grasping tools to clamp down on and pull body parts off of a preborn child in the womb.

The doctor will reach in and pull off an arm. Then go back in for a leg. Repeat.

Then he will crush the torso and pull it off from the head.

Finally, he will crush the head and extract it from the womb.

The child is alive when this procedure begins.

As the abortionist removes body parts, the child begins to bleed profusely.

Children at this stage of development feel the excruciating pain of being dismembered.

As his or her limbs are pulled off one by one, the child dies of exsanguination, or bleeding out.

Abortionist DeShawn Taylor was caught on video by the Center for Medical Progress joking about how she goes to the gym to make her biceps stronger because it’s hard to pull off the arms and legs of children at this stage in development.

Induction Abortion

The most common method of third-trimester abortion in the U.S. is Injection and Stillbirth.

This late in pregnancy, a woman’s body cannot physically deliver a child – dead or alive – without going into labor.

Abortions at this late stage of pregnancy are a multiple-day process – usually taking about 4 days to complete.

On the first day, the abortionist begins to prepare the woman’s body to deliver a dead child by inserting seaweed sticks into her cervix. These sticks expand, causing her cervix to dilate in preparation for deliver. This can take up to two days.

On the same day, the child is injected through the mother’s abdomen with a large needle containing a drug called Digoxin.

Digoxin is a heart medication, but it causes cardiac arrest when too much is given.  Digoxin essentially causes the child to die of a heart attack.

The injection and the heart attack are painful, and the baby can feel them.

It usually takes a few hours for the child to die after being injected with digoxin.

Sometimes the child does not die after the first injection and has to be injected again later.

The woman carries the dead child as her body progresses toward labor.

Once she is fully dilated, the woman may deliver the child intact. This can happen suddenly at home or a hotel, or at the abortion facility.

However, sometimes the child has to be removed in the dismemberment process we described earlier.

This process involves taking the child apart piece by piece.

Abortionist Leroy Carhart is one of only four abortionists in the United States who will commit abortions this late in pregnancy. Carhart has joked that he uses a “toolkit” including a “pickax and drill bit.”

Warren Hern, another late-term abortionists, charges $25,000 cash for an abortion at this stage.

Partial-Birth Abortion

Partial-birth abortion is another abortion method that has historically been committed later in pregnancy.

Partial-birth abortion is referred to by abortionists as D&X, or Dilation and Extraction.

It has been used for the late second trimester and early third trimester stages of pregnancy.

Partial-birth abortion was federally outlawed in 2003 and the ban was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2007 after years of pro-life legal battles to stop the method.

Every abortion is brutal and inhuman, and partial-birth abortion is no exception.

In a partial-birth abortion, a live child in the second or third trimester of pregnancy is delivered breech, meaning the abortionist pulls his or her feet out of the birth canal first.

The abortionist continues to pull the live, moving baby out of the birth canal until only the baby’s head is in the birth canal.

At this point, the abortionist uses a sharp object, often scissors, to pierce the back of the baby’s skull.

He crushes the baby’s skull, which obviously kills the child, and pulls the head out of the birth canal.

Why is it important to be pro-life?

We owe it to the victims of the abortion genocide to know what they endure, and then to advocate for their human rights.

We owe it to the victims, families, and society to take action. It’s our duty as fellow human beings.

The horror of abortion underscores the urgency of ending it.

Imagine 2,700 kindergarteners were mowed down by machine guns on school playgrounds across the country one day in America.

Their limbs were blown off, their heads and torsos crushed, just blown to pieces by assassins.

Then it happens again the following day – 2,700 more kindergarteners are massacred in an act of traumatic, unspeakable violence.

What would our response be as a community?

We would be horrified, traumatized, and IMMEDIATELY moved to action.

We would put an end to the violence no matter the cost to ourselves.

No matter how much it cost. No matter how much of our time it took. No matter how it impacted our reputation.

We would not sit around strategizing, or waiting for the right political opportunities to propose a solution down the road.

We would simply get to work. Immediately. And we would not stop until the killing stopped.

The only difference between the child inside the womb and the kindergartener is her size, location, and level of development.

Both are human.

Both are endowed by their Creator with full human rights.

Both demand protection because they cannot protect themselves.

How can you effect change?

So what can you do to end abortion? We are glad you asked.
