Human Coalition Action Congratulates Rep. Mike Johnson on Election as House Speaker
October 26, 2023, WASHINGTON, DC — On Thursday, Rev. Dean Nelson, Executive Director of Human Coalition Action issued the following statement on the election of Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) as Speaker of the House:
“Human Coalition Action is thrilled at the election of Rep. Mike Johnson as House Speaker. Rep. Johnson has a sterling record on life from his time in the House, and has exercised critical leadership in a time when it is most needed.
“He led a congressional resolution earlier this year condemning the atrocious spate of violence, vandalism, and intimidation against pro-life clinics and advocates since the draft Dobbs opinion was leaked; he has introduced legislation banning unpermitted abortion travel for minors; and he has led efforts to prevent taxpayer funding of abortion and abortion providers.
“Human Coalition Action looks forward to working with Speaker Johnson on policies that save children from abortion and provide life-changing assistance to vulnerable women seeking abortion.”
